Saying Goodbye- For Now!!
Hello DMTA members and followers, I write to you today on a sad note. One of our current players, Thomas Cook, has lost his father this past week. Mr. Tom Cook passed away Tuesday evening at the Gwinnett Medical Center. Tom is a legend in the gymnastics field establishing the Atlanta School of Gymnastics in the mid 70’s in Tucker, Ga. He has influenced so many lives in the gymnastics field I can’t begin to touch the surface. My fondest memories are of the two of us standing while watching his youngest son completely demolish a top seed in the boys 12 and under division only to watch the net & fence get plastered in the second set, and then in the third set wondering together how many times would he drop his racket in anger! We both would kinda chuckle knowing that this road we were traveling down would for sure have better days, but for the time there was, as usual, much work to be done. Today there is much less work to be done as Tom Cook has gone to that Academy in Heaven to watch from there. He’ll be always missed, but never forgotten! I’m sure he’ll meet my pops and have plenty to chat about! Our thoughts and prayers are with the Cook family during this difficult time! Until Next Time,
Dave Mathews
